Breaking News: Camden Council Approves NW3 CLT's Redevelopment Project

In a landmark decision, Camden Council's planning committee has given the green light to NW3 CLT's application to redevelop 31 Daleham Gardens. This momentous approval marks a significant milestone for our Community Land Trust and represents the culmination of years of dedicated effort and collaboration.

"We are thrilled by this news, which is the result of tireless work by numerous individuals involved with our community land trust," expressed Sanya Polescuk, one of the Founding Directors of NW3 Community Land Trust.

The journey to this point has been driven by a shared vision to address the pressing issue of affordability in our community. "We came into being to halt the exodus of residents who could no longer afford to live in the area," remarked Polescuk. "Affordable housing, preserved as affordable in perpetuity through the CLT model, is not just a possibility but a reality, even in high-value areas."

Over the course of eight years, with five of those in partnership with the Council, NW3 CLT has diligently worked towards realising this vision. The approved scheme will feature eight affordable flats, comprising over 50% of the total floorspace. Not only does it align with the regeneration strategy outlined in Section 106 of the previous Planning Permission, but it also surpasses policy requirements.

This groundbreaking project marks Camden's inaugural foray into the innovative model of affordable housing delivery facilitated by community land trusts. "We are immensely proud to have collaborated with the Council to achieve this milestone," noted Polescuk. "We hope to serve as a beacon, inspiring others to embrace similar initiatives, as the need for increased affordable housing stock is urgent not only in Camden but across London and the country."
